RDVM
Your Referring Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (RDVM) will refer your pet to West Coast Veterinary Dental Services to perform specialized care for your pet. There are many reasons a veterinarian may suggest an appointment with a dental specialist. An oral or dental concern may have been noted during a routine visit to your veterinarian you have observed changes in your pet’s behaviour or eating habits that causes you concern. Rest assured your vet wants to provide the best possible care for your pet. West Coast Veterinary Dental Services compliments your veterinarian’s practice.
Only your veterinarian can refer your pet to West Coast Veterinary Dental Services. We do not accept patients without a referral. Please discuss your pet’s oral concerns with your veterinarian.
For Veterinarians: Referral Process
West Coast Veterinary Dental Services (WCVDS) is a referral based speciality hospital. If you would like to have a patient seen by one of our dental specialists, please fax or mail in a completed copy of our referral form. See the link below to download our referral form. If you have taken any radiographs, or have done any blood work note it on the referral form along with related history and send it with the referral. You can either have the radiographs couriered, mailed, brought in by clients, or emailed to us at info@wcvds.ca
Once the referral has been received, our staff will contact the pet’s owners and set up the consultation and procedure, which are typically done on the same day. Normally we do our consultations at the beginning of the day and begin procedures mid-morning. All patients go home the same day unless otherwise arranged.
Our doctors will prepare a complete post-operative report that will be faxed to your clinic within 3 business days. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us.
For Veterinarians: Radiograph Reviews
Radiograph reviews can be submitted digitally by email or hard copy by mail. Please follow either of the following steps.
- E-mail radiographs to info@wcvds.ca and include all the information about the patient, client, and presenting complaint. Include a completed copy of the referral form.
- Mail the radiographs along with a referral form to us. Please note on the form that it is only for radiograph review. We will contact your clinic either by email, phone or fax to give you our Doctor’s interpretation.
Once the review is completed, we will fax you a report and an invoice. We will not contact the client to book the procedure unless you have requested us to do so. If your radiographs were sent by mail or courier we will mail them back to you as soon as possible.
