Orthodontics

Our primary objective is to provide your pet with a bite that is comfortable and functional. We do not adjust for esthetic purposes, and will not alter any dog meant for the show ring if the malocclusion has an inherited component to it.

Linguoversed Canines (tipped towards the tongue) – If the mandibular canine teeth are misoriented they may cause damage to the palate or gums when the dog tries to shut its mouth. Pain and infection result. The canine teeth can be moved into proper position or shortened so that they no longer contact the soft tissues. Which option that is used will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Lance Canines – Maxillary canine teeth may be misdirected so that they are horizontal in the jaw rather than vertical. The upper and lower teeth can not interdigitate properly. Correction involves orthodontics.

Other malocclusions can occur and correction can be individualized to the patient.
